DCF Delivers $545,000 in Meet the Moment Grants to Delaware Nonprofits
100 nonprofit organizations will receive support in the form of funding or training
The Delaware Community Foundation (DCF) today announced $545,000 in Meet the Moment grants.
As part of the DCF’s Meet the Moment initiative to support 100 nonprofits in its first round, these grants help organizations adapt to federal funding changes by funding scenario planning, new revenue models, legal support for mergers, advocacy and other adaptive strategies.
Launched in April 2025 in response to the January 2025 federal funding pause and ongoing economic and political uncertainty, the initiative offers free workshops, webinars and grant funding. While not a replacement for federal dollars, Meet the Moment grants provide critical support to strengthen and sustain Delaware’s nonprofit sector.
“We recognize that nonprofits need immediate support and the DCF is in a position to help lead the way,” said DCF Executive Vice President Sarah Hench. “This grant program is part of a larger, coordinated effort with internal and external partners to share resources, workshops and trainings with the Delaware nonprofit community.”
Through the generosity of DCF donors, the initial grant pool was increased from $425,000 to $545,000.
To date, the Meet the Moment initiative has supported 31 nonprofit organizations that applied for financial assistance in the initial grant round. The program will also support an additional 69 nonprofits that will receive free trainings in August. The DCF continues to develop additional resources for the nonprofit community, including ongoing workshops and education.
This round of Meet the Moment grants fund organizations across all three counties representing human services, the arts, education, community improvement, the environment, mental health and crisis intervention, housing and shelter, youth development, and science and technology. The majority of grant proposals requested support for financial modeling, mergers and strategic collaborations, scenario planning or storytelling.
“As a community foundation, we take seriously our role as long-term community partners. This is just the beginning of our support for Delaware nonprofits through Meet the Moment. As the landscape continues to shift, the DCF will stand alongside nonprofits every step of the way,” said DCF President and CEO Stuart Comstock-Gay. “While philanthropy may not have the resources to support nonprofits at the level of the federal government, we can help nonprofits adapt to this new environment with resources, trainings and grants.” Due to the sensitive nature of this funding, the DCF will not issue a list of grantees. Nonprofit organizations that received Meet the Moment grants may release announcements in the future.
