DCF Awards $95,670 in Specific Interest Grants
This year, the Delaware Community Foundation (DCF) awarded $95,670 in specific interest grants to 15 nonprofit organizations around the state.
Specific interest funds – created by donors to support issues they are particularly passionate about – provide grants for nonprofits and programs that work within specific areas of activity or populations and currently focus on small grants for the arts, fulfillment of terminally ill children’s wishes and support animals and animal welfare.
The 2023 recipients are:
Arts in Wilmington – through the Dave Ryerson Fund and the Beekhuis Community Fund:
Grand Opera House – $2,500
To support the Grand’s Sensory-Friendly Family Programming
Read Aloud Delaware – $2,500
To support early childhood literacy with music, movement and storytelling
YWCA Delaware, Inc. – $2,325
To support art therapy at the Home-Life Management Center
First State Ballet Theatre – $2,500
To support the Danceworks! outreach program
Native Roots Farm Foundation – $2,500
To support “The Beauty Around Us: Indigenous Knowledge, Native Plants, & Art”
Wilmington Renaissance Corporation – $2,500
To support the Art for Wellness program
Wilmington Children’s Chorus, Inc. – $2,500
To support Summer of Song 2023
Latin American Community Center – $2,500
To support the ArtAddiction art competition
Fulfillment of Terminally Ill Children’s Wishes – through the Walls & Turner Charitable Fund:
Make-A-Wish – $15,000
To enable more of Delaware’s critically ill children to receive wishes
Support Animals and Animal Welfare – through the Walls & Turner Charitable Fund and the Freida Dolby Fund:
