The Delaware Community Foundation is proud to announce that David Fleming, senior vice president for philanthropic services, has been selected as the Fundraising Professional of the Year by the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Brandywine Chapter. Fleming will be recognized at Philanthropy Day on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Before joining the DCF, Fleming was the CEO of new and historic theaters around the country, starting with the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Del. from 1978-1992. Twenty years after leaving Delaware, Fleming returned to assist the Grand Opera House with its development efforts, before joining the DCF in 2012.

“David is an inspiration to those around him,” DCF President & CEO Stuart Comstock-Gay said. “He is professional and graceful in his work to help people achieve their charitable goals. Even more important, his positive attitude and energy are integral in fostering long-term relationships with colleagues, clients and organizations.”

“It’s an honor to be selected for this award,” Fleming said. “I love helping people give their money to help improve different aspects of quality of life in Delaware. Whether the donor is passionate about the arts or education or the environment or something else entirely, they are helping make Delaware a better place by supporting causes and organizations they care about.”
