Mark Arehart Named New Philanthropy Officer for Northern Delaware at the Delaware Community Foundation

Arehart joins from The Newark Partnership as the Executive Director

The Delaware Community Foundation (DCF), a top-100 community foundation nationwide and one of the largest charitable organizations in the state, today announced it has named Mark Arehart to the position of Philanthropy Officer for Northern Delaware. Arehart brings more than a decade of nonprofit and journalism experience to the role.

Arehart will provide high-level stewardship and support to DCF fundholders as a Philanthropy Officer, helping them maximize their impact and deepen their connection to the communities they care about.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Mark to the DCF team,” said Stuart Comstock-Gay, President and CEO of the DCF. “His unique background in storytelling, community engagement and nonprofit development makes him a great asset as we work to grow philanthropy in Northern Delaware.”

Before joining DCF, Arehart served as Executive Director of The Newark Partnership, where he oversaw strategies and objectives for the development of Newark’s business and nonprofit communities. During his tenure, he worked with city, university and community leaders to strengthen economic and cultural development.

Arehart’s career also includes reporting for Delaware Public Media and Cleveland’s Ideastream Public Media, where he covered science, politics, arts and culture across the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions.

Arehart was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and attended the University of Kansas where he earned a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. He later received a Nonprofit Leadership Certification from the University of Delaware. He lives in Wilmington with his wife and child.
