Delaware Community Foundation Fundholders to Offer up to $150,000 in Specific Interest Grants for Nonprofits
Tubby Raymond Charitable Fund offers a one-time funding opportunity for athletic-based programming and mentoring for at-risk youth
Delaware Community Foundation (DCF) has announced a cycle of Specific Interest Grants to benefit eligible non-profit organizations across Delaware. The deadline to apply is 5:00 p.m. on April 5.
“Specific interest funds are created by donors to support issues they are particularly passionate about,” said Stuart Comstock-Gay, DCF president and CEO. “These annual grant programs provide funds to nonprofits and programs that work within specific areas of activity or populations. This cycle will focus on education, the arts, animal welfare, racial justice and organizations that work with at-risk youth.”
Grants from four groups of funds (list below) will range from $1,000 – $7,500, depending on the organization(s) granting funds.
The Tubby Raymond Fund Offers a Special Opportunity
In addition, The Tubby Raymond Fund is offering a one-time funding opportunity to organizations providing athletic-based educational and mentoring programs for at-risk youth in Delaware. These focused grants, ranging from $5,000-$7,500, complement the wider range of youth programs supported annually by the fund.
“Tubby Raymond was a force both on the University of Delaware football field and off, and our fund always seeks to represent his passion for mentorship and in support of programs for at-risk kids,” said Dave Raymond, founder of the fund and Tubby’s son. “We are thrilled to offer up to $35,000 in grants this cycle and look forward to presenting the checks later this year.”
The Tubby Raymond Fund will also host the annual “Tub Club” Golf Tournament on Monday, September 23 at Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, De.
African American Empowerment Fund Participates in Specific Interest Grants Process
The African American Empowerment Fund of Delaware, a DCF Giving Circle, will participate in the Special Interest Grants process for the first time. The fund will provide support of educational programs and projects that promote racial justice with grants of $1,000 to $2,500. The fund’s goal is to establish a permanent source of funding for causes important to African Americans throughout the state.
Six Funds in Four Areas of Special Interest Open Grant Window
Six funds housed at the Delaware Community Foundation will offer grants in four areas of interest, as noted:
Statewide small arts grants of $1,000 – $2,500 for programs and projects are being offered through the Dave Ryerson Fund andthe Beekhuis Community Fund.
Support from $2,500 – $7,500 is available to educational programs and projects that benefit animals and animal welfarethrough the Walls and Turner Charitable Fund and the Freida Dolby Fund.
Grants of $1,000 – $2,500 in support of educational programs and projects that promote racial justice are available through the Quintin E. Primo Jr. Fund for Racial Justice andthe African American Empowerment Fund.
Grants of $2,500 – $5,000 are available to education and financial assistance programs for at-risk children and/or young adults up to age 21 through the 21st Century Children’s Fund.
