DCF AWARDS $254,823 IN CAPITAL GRANTS
Providing mental health, meals and other essential services, this year’s capital grants from the Delaware Community Foundation will benefit thousands of Delawareans.
The DCF has awarded a total of $254,823 in 2023 capital grants to 22 organizations around the state. Grants are underwritten by the Delaware Forever Fund and other funds supporting capital needs of nonprofits throughout the State of Delaware. This year’s recipients are:
2023 Capital Grants
CHEER – $19,726 — Purchase new security cameras
Family Promise – $9,015 — Purchase new security cameras
Faithful Friends – $10,000 — Help build a new facility
Bermuda Highway – $11,582 — Purchase kitchen equipment for food truck providing mental health services
UrbanPromise – $15,000 — Renovate the EastSide staff house
Latin American Community Center – $15,000 — Replace windows and repair railing and gate
Friendship House – $10,400 — Install new outlets in bedrooms and kitchen
Ministry of Caring – $17,000 — Renovate building and improve parking lot
Elizabeth W. Murphey School – $6,000 — Install a new sidewalk and lighting
Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding – $10,000 — Build and repair fencing, shelters and a well
Love-In-Deed Community Dev. Co – $10,000 — Install new security cameras and an intercom system
Teach A Person to Fish Society – $10,000 — Upgrade the kitchen
Rosa Health Center – $10,000 — Build a new office for a new physician
Delaware Public Media – $10,000 — Install new equipment to increase the signal strength and reach
Delaware Contemporary – $17,000 — Address plumbing issues
Sussex Community Crisis House – $17,000 — Install new vinyl siding
Lewes Historical Society – $7,500 — Create and install signs
Community Education Building – $15,000 — Replace and upgrade the point-of-sale system for student lunches
Primeros Pasos, Inc. – $7,600 — Install equipment for two tricycle pedal tracks for preschool children
Spur Impact – $7,000 — Assist with software development
Vet Watchmakers – $5,000 — Fund renovations and construction
St. Michael’s School and Nursery, Inc.– $15,000 — Add two new classrooms
Capital grants support projects that have a lasting, positive impact on the population served by the organization. They may be used to fund construction, renovation or repair of buildings, and/or land purchases. Capital grants typically range from $5,000 to $20,000 but can be awarded for up to $25,000.
“Nonprofit organizations should not have to face the issue of being unable to serve their community because they must spend funds on infrastructure issues,” DCF President and CEO Stuart Comstock-Gay said. “These capital grants allow organizations to grow their impact and make a lasting difference for all Delawareans.”
