Fund for Women Names Mariann Kenville-Moore 2022 First Founder Award Recipient
The Fund for Women (FFW) at the Delaware Community Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of Mariann Kenville-Moore as the 2022 First Founders awardee. The First Founders Award is presented annually to a Founder who has a record of exceptional generosity, demonstrates civic and or charitable responsibility and whose leadership has encouraged others in philanthropic endeavors throughout the Delaware community. This award honors and memorializes the FFW vision, “All women and girls in Delaware are empowered to achieve their potential.” Mariann will be honored with the award at the Fund for Women First Founders Breakfast this fall. The breakfast will be held on October 12, 2022, at 8 AM (doors open at 7:30 AM and breakfast will start promptly at 8:15 AM). Mariann Kenville-Moore embodies the values of philanthropy and volunteerism through her integrity, dedication, and advocacy towards ending domestic violence in Delaware. Mariann serves as the Director of Advocacy & Policy at the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence, a statewide, nonprofit coalition of agencies and individuals working to stop domestic violence in Delaware.Mariann’s leadership has increased charitable contributions to fund domestic violence shelters, strengthened prosecution of domestic violence perpetrators and ensured better treatment for survivors. As a mentor to advocates across the state, Mariann’s passion about the effects of the criminal justice system on domestic violence survivors is evident through her work advancing policy and serving as a crime victim advocate with the Domestic Violence Unit of the Delaware Department of Justice.
In addition to joining the Fund for Women as a Founder in 2017, Mariann also serves as a Board Member of A Better Chance for Children, a nonprofit that provides training and resources to adoptive and foster families as well as children in the foster care system within the state of Delaware. Mariann’s leadership is demonstrated in the greater Wilmington community through her work as a member of the Wilmington Community Advisory Council, a team that provides recommendations, support, and advocacy on youth violence prevention and intervention services within high-needs communities in Wilmington.
Mariann is originally from south Jersey but made Delaware her home after graduating from the University of Delaware with a BA in sociology. She later received her Masters of Social Work from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. She is married and lives in Wilmington with her partner Tom and their sons.
