Delaware Community Foundation Breaks $1 Million in Scholarships
233 Students Receive Support for 2026-27 School Year
The Delaware Community Foundation (DCF), one of the largest charitable organizations in the state and a top-100 community foundation nationwide, today announced a record-breaking $1,001,500 in scholarships awarded to 233 students for the 2026-2027 school year. This includes $657,700 in new scholarships to 168 students and $343,500 in renewal scholarships to 65 students.
“These scholarships are helping me continue my education and move closer to my future goals,” said Destiny Snow of Seaford High, who won The Janosik Family Scholarship, the Joni Reich Family Scholarship, and the Margaret F. Moore Scholarship. “As a first-generation, low-income student, the DCF is helping make my dreams come true. It means a lot to have support from those who believe in students and their success.”
The DCF manages 88 scholarships established by a diverse group of individuals, families, corporations, organizations, and schools.
“These scholarships represent more than just financial support,” said DCF President and CEO Stuart Comstock-Gay. “They are an investment in the talent, determination, and potential of Delaware students. We are proud to award more than $1 million in annual scholarships for the first time in our foundation’s history. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, a new cohort of students can pursue their goals with greater confidence and opportunity.”
There is no limit to the number of DCF scholarships or financial support a student can receive. Many can be used for textbooks and fees as well as tuition. Some are one-time awards, while others are renewable. Eligibility may depend on field of study, school, or demographic criteria.
Donors can open a scholarship fund with an initial gift to the DCF of $50,000 or more in cash or other assets, such as appreciated stock, mutual funds, or real estate. For information about how donors can create scholarship funds at the DCF, contact Kelly Sheridan at [email protected].
