To Increase Impact, Foundations Must Leverage Our Privilege
Nobody can say the past year has been boring. As I watch and listen, I’m more convinced than ever that the work of community foundations and our philanthropic partners is so important.
Whatever is happening around us, we’re here for the long haul. We’re here to work with all Delawareans for a vibrant and strong state. That goal is, of course, driven by the thousands of people who’ve made philanthropic commitments to the state. And I’m grateful to be working in a place where community and positive change are at the forefront.
I’m also fully aware of the incredible privilege it is to do this work. Last fall, I was asked to submit a piece for a publication of the Center for Effective Philanthropy, in response to their new report, The Future of Foundation Philanthropy. While the ensuing elections may seem to have changed the landscape for our work, I think the message still resonates. I’d love to hear your reactions.
