Delaware Charter Schools Opportunity Scholarship Fund

Honor the Past. Invest in the Future. Provide Hope.

In 1995, then Governor Carper signed into law the ability for groups of educators and community members to create and have authorized a new form of public school in Delaware. These innovative schools are called charter schools. In the fall of 1996, two schools, Positive Outcomes Charter School and The Charter School of Wilmington, opened their doors to 247 students total, across both schools. Today, we have 23 charter schools in operation, with a 24th opening in the fall of 2027, serving over 19,000 students.

This school year, the Delaware charter school community is celebrating 30 years of innovation and opportunity in our Delaware charter schools. To honor this milestone, we have created a new way to continue to support our students even after they leave our doors.

Our schools are only the beginning of our students’ life journeys. After they graduate, they go on to join the military, become apprentices, open their own businesses, or work to further their learning in the higher education space. The Charter School Opportunity Scholarship will be available for application by any student that graduated from a charter school in either 6th grade, 8th grade, or 12th grade. Please help us honor the past; invest in the future; and provide hope by supporting our DCSN Charter School Opportunity Scholarship Fund.
