Marketing and Communications Associate

Summary: 

The Marketing and Communications Associate is a member of the marketing/communications team, working closely with and under the supervision of the Vice President for Marketing & Communications to tell the story of the Delaware Community Foundation, and to develop and implement communication strategies and tactics to connect and engage the community foundation’s various audiences.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Support Vice President for Marketing & Communications in implementing all marketing and communications activities.
  • Produce monthly e-newsletter and annual report.
  • Maintain website and social media accounts.
  • Develop and manage project plans, partnering with vendors (graphic designers, photographers, writers, web developers, etc.) to produce print materials, podcasts, videos and other collateral.
  • Research and write press releases, op eds, feature stories and other articles.
  • Track, analyze and create reports to measure and illustrate effectiveness.
  • Organize and maintain files of images, videos and other resources.
  • Help maintain communications calendar.
  • Provide support for events, programs and other functions.
  • Promote consistent use of brand, voice and key messages in all communications.
  • Contribute to development of strategic marketing plan, messaging and departmental goals.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing, advertising, or related field or commensurate experience.
  2. Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in communication, public relations, marketing or advertising. Experience with and knowledge of the nonprofit sector and foundations preferred.
  3. Exceptional verbal, writing and editing with immaculate spelling and grammar.
  4. Broad experience and successful record of conceptualizing and implementing communications activities.
  5. Ability to meet deadlines. 
  6. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  7. Demonstrated project management and time management skills.
  8. Experience with social media and website management (WordPress and some HTML), including analytics.
  9. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or video production tools a plus. 
  10. Attention to detail.
  11. Self-motivation and ability to make decisions independently.
  12. Ability to thrive both independently and as a team member in a highly collaborative work environment driven by creativity and continuous learning. 
  13. Resourcefulness – the ability to figure it out and make it happen.

Responsibilities and priorities may be added or removed from time to time. 

Salary range depends on experience and education:  $48,000 to $53,000.  Benefits include Health, Vision and Dental Insurance, 403B retirement, Long-term disability, Life Insurance, Holidays, Vacation and Paid time Off

This position can be based anywhere in Delaware. DCF staff are currently working remotely and expect to return to a hybrid schedule in 2022. Some in-office time will be required in the Wilmington headquarters.
